Big news out of Arizona courts.
Maricopa County Recorder Justin Heap just delivered a sweeping courtroom win against Supervisor Thomas Galvin and the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
The court ruled that election authority and critical resources were unlawfully stripped from the Recorder’s office by the previous Board and previous Recorder — a backroom power grab that left Heap entering office with less authority than any Recorder in living memory.

This ruling exposes years of behind-the-scenes maneuvering that shifted power away from the elected Recorder and into the hands of the Board. It directly validates what many citizens have been saying for years: the public’s elected official responsible for elections was deliberately handcuffed.
Heap has been fighting to restore proper authority, transparency, and function to the office while facing repeated attacks and roadblocks. Today’s court victory is a massive step toward correcting that injustice.
The Board spent significant time and taxpayer resources fighting this — and they lost. The court made it clear: you can’t just rewrite the rules in private and neuter an independently elected constitutional officer.
This is a win for the rule of law, separation of powers, and every Maricopa County voter who wants fair, transparent elections run by the official actually elected to run them.
The public record continues to speak louder than any spin. More accountability is coming.
