The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors (who also serve as the Library District Board) moves with lightning speed when protecting their own power… but where is that same urgency when it comes to protecting our children?
On April 22, 2026, the Board emphasized the need for a “prompt appeal” and immediate legal action in another matter. Yet for years, parents and concerned citizens have brought forward documented evidence of sexually explicit and pornographic books in the children’s and minors sections of county libraries — with little to no meaningful resolution.

Citizens stood and read from books still available to minors — books containing graphic descriptions of sexual acts that no child should ever encounter. They cited Arizona law and warned about the harm of early sexualization. Their reward? Interruptions, removals from the meeting, and continued delays.
One speaker asked a simple, direct question about the Board’s timeline for removing inappropriate material from children’s sections while they were approving the 2026 Library District calendar. The response? A recess and removal.
Meanwhile, the Board finds plenty of urgency and resources when appealing court rulings or defending their own positions. The double standard is glaring: Prompt action for power. Prolonged inaction for protecting innocence.
Scripture is clear:
“Train up a child in the way he should go…” (Proverbs 22:6) “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck…” (Matthew 18:6)
Public libraries should be safe places of learning — not gateways to graphic sexual content. Parents, not activists or government employees, should decide what is appropriate for their children. The Board holds the purse strings. They have the authority. The question remains:
Where is the urgency for our children?
This is not a partisan issue. Protecting the innocence of the next generation is a moral duty. We will continue to stand, document, and call on our elected officials to act with the same speed they show for legal appeals.
No more excuses. No more delays. Remove the perversion from our children’s reach.
