Maricopa County Board Chair Kate Brophy McGee was emphatic.
She repeatedly insisted the Agilis scanner was not part of last year’s budget request. She even claimed she personally tore through the documents and staff records to confirm it was never presented to the Board.

Then the County Manager steps in and sets the record straight:
“The Agilus machine was part of our request last year… It was part of the budget request.”
Confident. But wrong.
This wasn’t a small mix-up. The Agilis machine relates directly to election equipment and voter processing. When board members are this certain — and this wrong — about basic budget facts, it raises serious questions about how well they actually understand what’s happening in their own departments.
We the People are paying attention. No more confidently wrong statements going unchallenged. No more brushing off equipment and process failures that impact real elections.
This is exactly why public scrutiny matters. Times have changed — citizens are watching every meeting, every claim, every correction.
Share this clip. Hold them accountable when they get it wrong.
It is Our Duty.
Stay vigilant.
