RINO Alert? Kate Brophy McGee Lectures on Partisanship — But Sidesteps Protecting Kids

During a Maricopa County Board of Supervisors budget meeting, Chair Kate Brophy McGee strongly pushed the idea that the Recorder’s office must remain strictly nonpartisan — while openly accusing it of functioning as the “political arm of the far-right Republican party.”

Yet when asked as a former Senator about supporting a simple proposal for Amber Alert-style notifications for children missing from DCS custody — a bill aimed at protecting the most vulnerable — her response was not a firm commitment to the children.

Instead, she said:

“You guys need to behave responsibly.”

No clear yes. No focus on the details of protecting kids. Just another call for the public to behave.

This is the same pattern we’ve seen repeatedly: strong words against conservatives, lectures on decorum and partisanship, but hesitation or deflection when it comes to concrete action defending children and families.

Protecting innocent children from DCS failures is not a partisan issue — it is a moral and biblical imperative. Leaders should lead with urgency on issues like this, not pivot to scolding the public.

The people of Maricopa County deserve officials who put the safety of our children and the integrity of our elections above political posturing. When rhetoric about “nonpartisanship” is weaponized against one side while real problems affecting kids get sidelined, trust erodes.

It is Our Duty to watch closely, document the record, and demand leaders who consistently prioritize righteousness, child safety, and accountability over politics.
